Regarding curry, a friend's oral recollection

In a conversation with friends, I got a very lively oral memory:

After leaving home, curry almost became a must-have dish for me to save time in my studies. Any ingredients, as long as they are blanched and stir-fried, then cooked with curry, can be quickly served with rice. The most commonly bought by my mother when she was young was "Baisiduo". At that time, this was the only one available, and she strictly followed the cooking steps on the box. At that time, eating curry was considered a significant and ceremonial activity. However, it was an activity exclusive to me and my mother; my father would not eat this kind of "thirteen-spice peppercorn rice soaking in soup".

Curry, seaweed-wrapped rice, hamburgers, and the like were all made for me by my mother. Some were heard from others, and some were what I insisted on eating. She had a high acceptance of new things and was committed to making them part of the family recipe. My father disliked them; in his eyes, these were not considered proper meals, but "eating randomly". So every time, a separate meal had to be made for him. Because of this, I rarely ate these when eating at home with him, and the whole family mainly followed his taste.

I have a special affection for curry, especially CoCo Ichibanya curry. In early 2024, during a vacation in Osaka, one night, feeling dejected, I was walking on the street, unsure of what to eat. I unintentionally walked into a CoCo Ichibanya and ordered a curry rice based on instinct. Somehow, that curry rice lifted my spirits.
